Introduction: What happened to Stereo Mix???

For my first message, here is my profile's personal infos on CNET "Dell" forum with nickname: pier_3d (http://tinyurl.com/2arap7y)

--------

I bought my first PC in 1990. In 1995, I updated for a Pentium 100 and since then, I recall that I always enjoyed a complete audio mixer with Stereo Mix (Wave out), Line In listening etc.

In Feb. 2007 I bought a Dell XPS 410 without the Stereo Mix function. No, no, don't tell me, the two checkboxes that permit to view this function in Vista ARE checked. Plugging the Output in the Input with a straight cable is NOT an option for me either.

After hours and hours of researches and discussions on forums, in English and in French, I am now sure that the problem is due to a demand from the American music industry (RIAA) to the computer manufacturers to stop putting the Stereo Mix function as a standard on their products (PCs or laptops).

For three years now, I am angry at Dell because I bought not one but 7 computers from them and they just ignored all my complaints after I realized the problem.

I am also angry at the other computer manufacturers who followed the RIAA demand and at the whole community of computing specialists, journalists and columnists who have always been so strangely silent on this matter. Why?

----------------------------

I would like to interest some lawyers in the possibility to initiate a class action suit against the RIAA and the computer manufacturers on the matter that they have delibelerately deceived the world to protect their own interests.

I would like to interest some computing Geeks to gather and form a programming group who would write the drivers for every make and every model of computers sold with this unacceptable lack.
